Maybank names new Group CRO
Malaysia’s Maybank has named Dr. John Lee Hin Hock as its Group Chief Risk Officer.  Lee was previously a partner at KPMG Business Advisory. He will assume his new responsibilities on January 17th 2011.

ISRA drafting Shariah hedging regulations

The International Shariah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) is drafting regulations to standardise the use of derivatives and improve Shariah compliance. ISRA, a unit of Bank Negara Malaysia, the country’s central bank, is preparing these guidelines to improve risk management in the country’s Islamic banking sector.

RBI issues draft guidelines on CDS for corporate bonds

The Reserve Bank of India, the country’s central bank, has released draft guidelines on credit default swaps (CDS) for corporate bonds and has invited further comment. The bank has incorporated suggestions and feedback received during the first round of comments last year.
